In addition to standard synthetic laboratory equipment, our lab houses some cutting edge equipment for supramolecular materials chemistry research:
Kibron Langmuir-Blodgett Trough
This precision instrument is key to our research and allows us to prepare and deposit monolayers of functional coordination compounds. The LB trough was funded through a Royal Society Infrastructure grant.
Perkin-Elmer Lambda 265 UV/vis spectrometer
This small diode array UV/vis allows us to measure the absorption spectra of our solutions and thin films very quickly.
Agilent Cary Eclipse Fluorescence Spectrometer
Standard fluorescence spectrometer with multi-cell holder and temperature control, solid state attachments and film holder attachment. We share this instrument with the Gale group
We have an interest in using new technologies to allow us to operate under more sustainable conditions. We use waterless condensers, heating blocks, chillers and Design of Experiment to reduce our utilities consumption. Additionally, our lab houses a solvent recycling system for recycling common solvents such as acetone.
